PADI Emergency First Response (EFR)
To be certified as a Rescue Diver, participants must have completed a sanctioned course in CPR within the past two years. Introduced in 2003, PADI and DSAT came together to develop Emergency First Response (EFR), with both a primary care component (CPR) and secondary care (First Aid). Together, these courses can be used toward your Rescue Diver certification, although they are valuable courses in their own right. The EFR primary and secondary care courses are based on internationally recognized medical guidelines for emergency care, and are geared towards divers and non divers alike. The EFR course can be completed in one evening, and is designed like other two tiered first aid courses; ie, you could just take CPR, or First Aid. The course price includes a training manual.
